Tanggol Kalikasan, an affiliate of Alternative Law Groups (ALG) spearheads the conduct of Training Orientation for local area formation of civil society organizations in CALABARZON region  on August 30-31, 2016 held at Palaisdaan Hotel and Restaurant, Brgy. Dapdap, City of Tayabas. The event was participated by eleven CSO representatives from different provinces in CALABARZON and Marinduque.

Atty. Christine Antoniette Ramos, the Program Manager of ALG explained the rationale of the training orientation and emphasized the need to civil society’s role to ensure transparency, integrity and accountability of the justice system.

The CSOs who composed the core group of the local area formations are Marinduque Center for Environmental Concern (MaCEC), Tanggol Kalikasan, (TK) Inc., MSEUF College of Law Student Council, Upper Lamon Bay IFARMC, Lower Lamon Bay IFARMC, National Movement for Food Sovereignty, STEP Sierra Madre, SAGIBIN-LN, at Tribal Center for Development (TCD). They were given orientation on the concept of human rights and the tasks of human rights defenders (HRDs), Philippine legal system and the structure of the judiciary.

During the planning session facilitated by Atty. Rolando R. Recto of Tanggol Kalikasan and Local Area Coordinator for CALABARZON, the participants identified the need to expand the membership of the local formation and invite other CSO in the region.
